Lynn Morrison
I was introduced to yoga in 1986 after backpacking into the mountains of Colorado and meeting another traveler who showed me a sun salutation and some of the warrior poses. I began practicing 20 to 90 minutes a day and immediately noticing a correlation with my performance as a climber and skier. I spent the next 14 years leading month-long wilderness trips all over the world and practicing yoga wherever I happened to be.
In 1996, I was finally in a location long enough to study with a yoga teacher. I learned about my alignment within a pose and more than that I realized yoga had touched something deeper within me beyond the muscle and bone body. It was nourishing my whole mind, body and spirit.
After sailing with my husband and son for 4 years to the South Pacific, I returned to begin my practice as a massage therapist and yoga teacher.
I love sharing yoga with others. Yoga is medicine. It grounds me in the present, puts me in touch with my body and relaxes my mental and emotional state.
I love studying the human body and have found great joy being a bodyworker and yoga teacher. I enjoy teaching yoga asana, philosophy, anatomy and watching as each individual brings yoga into their life.
Training and experience
My first 200 hour teacher training was based in Iyengar yoga with Lynne Minton in Anchorage, Alaska. It was a wonderful year of study, with the primary highlight for me studying yoga philosophy. From this point, I began studying Anusara yoga with John Friend. Through John’s principles of alignment, I learned how to soften in each pose, find alignment, and allow the pose to open from the inside to the outside with raidiance and joy.
