Greetings!
I hope you are all enjoying the frost in the air,
the twinkle of lights and the spirit of joy all around us. I love the
holidays for those things as well as the opportunities to gather with
friends and family and to celebrate and enjoy one another. It is a time of
year of festivity, fellowship and fun! At the same time it is cold and dark
and if we listen carefully most of us will hear the voice that tells us to
stay at home, cuddle up by the fire and rest. We all live constantly with
paradoxes like this and part of our yoga practice can be to be sensitive
enough to ourselves that we find the perfect balance that allows us to
sustain our energy and enjoy the season. Things like eating well, getting
enough rest and taking time out for oneself are especially important now
and will help us to move through the holidays with greater grace and ease.
By taking good care of ourselves, we create an internal environment in
which we can experience the joy of the moment and stay clear of the frenzy
of trying to meet others' expectations (be they those of a commercial
culture or of family members who have a different way of looking at things
than we do!) May this holiday season be one of balance for you!
As we move now toward the New Year, consider spending some quiet time
to reflect. Think about all the things that have grown in you through this
last year and consider the seeds that have been planted and are ready to
nourish now. I enjoy this practice of acknowledgiing my intentions,
bringing them to the forefront of my mind and instead of making
resolutions, designing a plan for tending to those things that are really
important in my life.
Happy Holidays and Namaste',
Leslie

this affects the natural curves of the spine and the alignment of the
pelvis. Issues covered include: lower back pain, sacroiliac (SI)
dysfunction and general posture.
