Ease the transition to dark.
Beautiful Soul,
Happy Halloween 🎃 Here in the US, this day has become just another commercial, sweet treat, candy holiday.
But do you know it's origins?
Samhain (pronounced ‘sow-win’)
The Celtic festival at the end of summer. Celebrating the harvest- storing nourishment for the coming winter, and preparing and preserving seeds to be planted for the next growing season. It was also recognized as a transition time. From the activity of summer to the slower, quieter pace of winter. From warm to cold. Light to dark. The ending of the year.
A time to let go of what has been and an opening into what will be.
Right now, in this cusp of change, is a powerful time to go inward. To rest into that deep and quiet place within, where your inner wisdom resides. Portals to this place are opening all week long, and throughout the next several weeks until the winter solstice.
This week is not only Samhain, but a new moon too. We are also in that time of setting clocks back - already done in many parts of the world, and coming this next weekend for those of us in the US. This brings the dark of night earlier so we spend more of our awake time in the dark. The veils between worlds are thinner right now. The doors are easier to open. Walk through to journey to, and with, your inner wisdom and guidance.
Within this inner space, the answers we seek are available.
Want the keys?
🗝️Take time to rest. 🗝️Be curious. 🗝️Ask for guidance.
🗝️Honor the wisdom of ancestors and the wise teachers who have influenced your growth.
🗝️Harvest what you can from their legacy.
🗝️And prepare the seeds you want to plant for this next cycle of your life.
Consider -
What are you grateful for from this past year?
What can you release?
What is no longer serving you that you are ready to let go of (even if you don't know yet how to let it go)?
What do you want to have happen? Begin to allow seed your dreams with possibility for the upcoming year.
Do a little ritual for yourself to mark this transition time.
🎃 Sit still for a bit. Bring to mind what you are grateful for. Taste the sweetness of each memory.
Savor all the good that has come your way.
🎃 Bring to mind loved ones and ancestors you want to honour and remember. Thank them for what they have passed on to you.
Light a candle and place any photos you have nearby.
🎃 Make a list of the things you want to let go of. Add to the list, when you feel called over the next several weeks.
Review it close to the Solstice and then do a personal ceremony where you burn the list, imagining each of those things
released with ease and love.
🎃 Make another list of your dreams and desires for next year. Again, you can add to it over the coming weeks.
At Solstice, after you burn the list for releasing, read your desire list, imagining each of those "dream seeds" sprouting in the
space left by what was released.
(And do consider coming to my Solstice retreat on December 18th where we will do this ceremony in community🧡)
How else might you honor this sacred time?
With so much love,
