Metaphor, Meaning, and The Mystery

Beautiful Soul ,

If you've ever hung out with me for even a short time,  you know I love poetry and metaphor.

It's something that I think is a bit distinctive in my teaching style - there'll always be a theme that threads through any class with images that help you to connect more deeply to the meaning of doing whatever we are doing. The imagery helps you to BE inside the experience rather than peripheral to it.

That love is what drew to me to study and become certified in Soul-based Coaching (SBC). We work in the metaphorical realm - tapping into the language of the soul.

Since becoming certified, I have incorporated SBC into my yoga therapy practice and it's been amazing to see on this more individual level, the power of one's own personal metaphors in supporting healing.

Recently I asked one of my clients, Glen, to share about his experience of healing in this way.

He had suddenly developed hip pain that was significantly interfering with movement and his overall sense of well-being. We started with a yoga therapy assessment and treatment plan and made some good progress. In addition he saw a beloved physical therapist who also helped him. But the pain, although improved, was still troublesome and was limiting his activity.

So I suggested we do a full session of Soul-based Coaching to explore the issue in another way, trusting his system to guide us, and then follow that up with another yoga session to reinforce what he discovered.

The result was pretty astounding....in fact he was almost immediately pain free!

Here's a short (14 min) interview I did with Glen so he could share his story. It's powerful. I hope you'll listen in!

I’d love to hear what you think!

Peace,
